Residents are encouraged to practice composting as an effort to divert waste from area landfills and utilize green grass clippings (which are not collected as part of the yard waste collection program).

If you wish to begin composting on your Brown Deer property, it is important to be aware of the requirements of the Village Code with regards to composting in the Village. Volume I, Chapter VI, Section 6-30.06 of the Village Code (PDF) sets requirements for composting in the Village.
