Accident Report Information

Copies of crash reports are not available at the Brown Deer Police Department. Copies of crash reports can be obtained through the Wisconsin Department of Transportation or CarFax.

Obtaining a Crash Report Through CarFax

To obtain a copy of your crash report from CarFax you can visit Crash Docs and search their Crash Reports by supplying the following required fields: Your Last Name, Report Number, and Date of the Incident.

Obtaining a Crash Report Through Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT)

To obtain a copy of your crash report from the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation, you must email the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Or, you may contact them Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm at 608-266-8753. You will need one of the following:

  • The "DOT Document Number" - printed on the upper right corner of the Wisconsin Motor Vehicle Driver Exchange of Crash Information sheet given to you by the officer
  • The date of the accident and the name and driver's license number of one of the drivers

Requests may take up to 30 days to be received from the State.
