Years as a Brown Deer Resident
- Since 1993
Community Involvement
Serve on the Finance and Public Works Committee and the Fourth of July Committee. Also serve on the Beautification Committee since 2001 (19 years) and have served as the Chair since 2013. Currently serve the Historical Society as its secretary and as a champion for securing its new home in the new library building. I also recently became a Master Gardener and volunteer through the UWM Extension program.
Family
I have one very artistically talented daughter, Virginia, 24, named after my mother, who graduated from Brown Deer High School. She earned a scholarship from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design and now is discovering a very successful career as an in-demand tattoo artist. I live happily in my farmhouse on 60th Street with two black cats and my long-time partner Kelly Graham, who has three grown children and is also active in the Brown Deer community.
Education & Occupation
I attended DePauw University in Indiana as an English comp. and art double major, where I became a member of Delta Gamma sorority. I then moved to Chicago to earn a BFA at the School of the Art Institute, where I majored in painting and drawing, with a secondary emphasis on computer-aided design. I currently am an Art Director and Designer, and have spent most of my career in the Milwaukee advertising industry.
Leisure Activities
Gardening, painting, reading and sewing are my major loves, in addition to working on the farmhouse - an on-going activity that occasionally involves a sledgehammer and protective gear. I am always excited to explore antique stores and junk shops for interesting projects to take on. I love a good word puzzle or a Sudoku, and playing racquetball. I am also a big fan of Halloween and go all-out to celebrate my favorite holiday each year.
