Comprehensive Plan
Process
The Village of Brown Deer began its comprehensive planning process in February 2008. Over a 15-month period, Village officials and staff worked with residents, businesses, employees, and other stakeholders to produce a plan to guide Brown Deer over the next 20 years. The Village Board adopted this plan on January 1, 2010. All zoning and development decisions must be consistent with the plan. The Brown Deer Comprehensive Plan combines rigorous data analysis, creative thinking, and expertise of Village stakeholders to produce a blueprint to achieving the community's vision for its future. The Brown Deer Vision (PDF) is what residents imagine the community looks like now through the year 2025.
"Smart Growth" Plan
The Village Comprehensive Plan was prepared in compliance with Wisconsin's Comprehensive Planning Law, Wisconsin Statute Section 66.1001. This law, commonly known as the "Smart Growth" Legislation, provides a framework for developing, adopting, and utilizing the plan for further planning.
