Lateral Entry Program

The Brown Deer Police Department accepts lateral transfers of certified law enforcement officers.  The years of service that a lateral transfer has accumulated through prior sworn experience will place new hires on an accelerated pay scale, vacation scale, and sick time.  

Prior years of sworn law enforcement experience will place you in the correlating pay step:

2+ years                      $76,786.72        $77,938.52        $79,107.60

3+ years                       $80,694.19        $81,904.60        $83,133.17

Vacation Allowance:

Lateral transfers will receive recognition equal to the number of full years of service as a full-time sworn law enforcement officer, as it relates to the collective bargaining agreement.

Sick Leave:

Lateral transfers will receive an advance of 30 days of sick leave after completing 90 days of employment.
